CHINESE NEW YEARS

  • GOSH , the Chinese mall was packed today ! Well no duh, everyone’s doing last minute shopping. Everyone probably thinks like my grandma: ‘For Chinese New Years, we have to buy everything!
  • Traditional red pockets is not cool anymore. You gotta get those Hello Kitty, Winnie the Pooh, Snoopy red pockets!

Traditional :

Now you got these….

And I like to collect the really creative ones!

If you know me well enough (I don’t think you need to know me well to notice this though)… you know I’m a bit crazy when it comes to ‘cute’ things. Of course, I own one of these:

We’re having family from my mom’s side come over today for dinner and my dad’s side tomorrow. It’s gunna be fun but not the cleaning up part haha.

I didn’t want to go to Beauty Skin Care Centre but I had to ask something. Somehow, she pressured me to remove my ‘beauty marks’… it takes some time to heal so now my skin just looks weird. Thanks. It better heal before school starts. Then she pressured me into buying so $25 small bottle of something. Gosh, she’s a crazy lady … never going there again!

OLYMPICSS GO CANADA.

Happy Chinese new years! All of the red envelopes I received so far are super-traditional or completely plain-red. :-P

  2. Gillian / Feb 13 2010

Yeah, that’s what my physics teacher said ahaah.
Ew I hate it when teachers suck up to the principal. So fake.
Avatar was a great movie. (:
Ooh is the chinese new year today or tomorrow?! Either way, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR. :)
The stuff you bought looks oober cute.
That Hello Kitty container is so awesome. I want one.
Hope you have a nice dinner with your famm.
That sucks that the lady was able to pressure you. D: I hope your skin heals before school. <3

    Happy New Year!!!
I remember my aunt giving us money in those traditional red pockets… Well we’re not Chinese but she celebrates it though..

Yep, its considered as a winter activity, and so is rock climbing and tennis. I honestly don’t know why, but I guess they don’t have any more activity to put in the list? LOL

I really want to go again to the Korean BBQ. I’m already hungry thinking about it :)

  4. Kala / Feb 13 2010

    Happy Happy New Year! :)

  5. AnneMarie / Feb 13 2010

Happy Chinese New Year (: .. it has happened right? I can’t recall since I’m not Chinese and I don’t go to school with many Chinese people anymore. Aw, I miss the diversity of my old school. I used to celebrate it with my friends… ish. :D

We’d get red envelopes at least. Haha, Hello Kitty Red Envelopes.

What’s that pink cute container thing for anyways?

Beauty ladies are always like that. It reminds me of this video that I watched (Bubbosity… that Bubzybeauty girl, I absolutely love her videos) but she made this comedy video on her comedy channel about Chinese beauty lady seller people and she’s like, they pressure/annoy you a lot so you’ll buy stuff. xDDD

Olympics yayyy! I don’t…. really care who wins. I just like watching them. Because even though I am American. Meh.

Oh, considering I’m really late on returning your comment, you’ve probably gotten your grades by now. How did that go? ^^

Depressing books are interesting although sometimes I question why I read them. They do provoke the most emotions though and I guess as a reader, that’s what we all want. We want to be moved by what we read.

Definitely, all the books I mentioned are good reads. (: Especially if you don’t have to read them for school. I had to read them for school but still, I loved them.

  6. Gillian / Feb 13 2010

    You’re very welcome. (:

  7. Sierra / Feb 13 2010

Aww, your Chinese New Year stuff looks so cute. <3

I hope it goes well for you this year. :P

  8. Kristi / Feb 13 2010

Not sure what the “pockets” are.. or the hello Kitty container.. but they’re soo cute!! I must admit though, I don’t know a thing about the Chinese new year. Sounds fun though.

  9. Georgina / Feb 13 2010

Haha I applied for a credit card and got rejected for some reason. Oh well, I don’t really need one, and the interest on it is always crazy.

Ah, my parents do that all the time. When we have visitors they show off the trophies and fancy things in the cabinets. Photos too. -_- Photos of when I was little and eek!

Haha my parents like to save money so they’re always looking at how much I earn compared to how much I spend.

It was hard to accept but I guess I’m accepting her death now. I know she’s in a better place and all the support I’m getting is really great. <33

I guess it's like change – it's just inevitable change and people DO change, even if it means you sometimes lose touch.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR. :D I hope you have a good time with your family; hopefully not too much cleaning up… but I know the sink will be full of dishes lol.

We're part-Chinese but we don't really celebrate – maybe with some food… but my parents aren't into the red envelopes thing. I am jealous of others. LOL. But I love the cute designs better than the traditional ones of course!

  10. Tiff / Feb 13 2010

My mom wants me to remove my effin’ beauty marks too!! UGHHH I like them though! It makes me look .. different.. but she also wants me to get rid of my sunspots because they could be cancerous. :( But they pass off as freckles! :(

Happpppy lunar new year! It’s the best part of the year with all of the red envelopes! Wooo. :) But just like you, I don’t get traditional ones either! I get the Winnie the Pooh ones & all those cute ones. My family loves the cute ones because the little ones reallly love them. :D

  11. Smile / Feb 14 2010

    Happy Chinese New Year!!

Woot woot, I have to wait till the summer to get it. >_<
That sounds nice. tell me more once you start : )
nah it's not washington this year. we're going to be in KENTUCKY, with like kentucky fried chicken. XD it's not that bad. it's quite interesting, and like if you're really into improv then it really helps.

  16. tiff k / Feb 14 2010

  17. Tiffany / Feb 14 2010

Wow, Chinese New Year sounds so fun! When we went to Las Vegas we stayed at the Venetian hotel and they had decorated the hotel for Chinese New Year with tigers and everything. It was really cool :)

I know, Avatar was awesome! But it was long lol. My legs had gotten numb :)

Haha, I love BEP! I don’t really like their old stuff but their new CD ROCKS.

Lol yeah, Avatar and Pokemon were like my favorite childhood shows. The only difference is that I still watch Avatar :D

  18. Krystal / Feb 14 2010

  21. Joanna / Feb 15 2010

    I love cutesy things too!!
    Happy Chinese New Year!
Haha Hello Kitty and Winnie the Pooh versions are so cute than the traditional. But the traditional ones look cool 8)

I hate when the people at the store bug and pressure you to buy your things when your just looking around. I just say no thank you a million times XD

Hope you had a great day shopping :D

  22. Rose / Feb 15 2010

Cute. I like the traditional and the little twin stars bags. I dislike Weenie the pooh xP Nice bento use ~ Nom candy <3

    Happy Chinese New Year

  23. Aly / Feb 15 2010

Happy Chinese New Year, Bonnie! Gung hee fatt choi! Lol, that’s the only greeting I can say. :)

Ah, I’ve seen those red pockets before, my mum brought me back one from Hong Kong once with a Buddha design – awesome. I love the cute little character ones though! And your Hello Kitty candy tin (I think that’s what it is?) is adorable too. :)

Ouch, I can’t imagine getting beauty marks removed could be very pleasant. :( Did it hurt? I hope it heals before school starts too; first day back is always stressful enough without feeling self-conscious about things like that…even if no one else notices, you notice it and it affects your confidence. =/

And sorry, but I have to say GO AUSTRALIA!! in the Winter Olympics, hehe. Though I really don’t care, to be honest…I’m not particularly interested in it. :P

  24. sheidz / Feb 15 2010

Happy Chinese New Year! I think every girl likes cutesy stuff. ;D

  25. Nancy / Feb 15 2010

Happy chinese new year to you ;)! Oh my gosh, on saturday night, I went to this place, which was a community dominated by 95% asians. Anyways, I went to the Chinese New Year festival there at 9:30& it was PACKED. Red envelopes are always interesting as long as they have money inside ;). It`s like a breakaway habit for me ;)

  26. addison / Feb 15 2010

Thanks! I’ll have to go see Avatar since everyone says its good :D
The stuff you got it so cute! Happy Chinese New Year…Although its a day late (:

  27. nancy / Feb 15 2010

my parents gave me a total of 100 dollars ):! the rest came from the family :D! a piano is better than nothing :).

  28. kissliin / Feb 15 2010

Yeah, that’s the only sad thing about going to Pmall if you have a car. It’s hard finding a parking space in that area! It’s always packed no matter what time of day it is! It’s good riding a bus to go there, but the only problem is that it takes so long! And plus, its cold.

Basically finished my homework for family day. And we have some visitors right now… But its all adults, so my bro and I are stuck in our room, doing nothing.

  29. Tanaara / Feb 15 2010

haha yeah. I passed with a 57 but, it works for me :D. haha. omg. im pretty good, thanks for asking :D im so happy im just done with geography lol. so whats new with you?

I like the red pockets. Both kinds. The gold is really cool.
I dislike cleaning up too. My mom actually likes it.
Pressuring sales people, oh the woes. My mom usually handles them.

  33. Tammy / Feb 16 2010

    Go Australia! LOL
Happy Chinese New year btw. I celebrated it too and I love the new red pockets so cute!! But the money is good too ;) Hope you had fun :)

  34. Georgina / Feb 16 2010

You’re welcome! My mum would have made me clean up and help her hahaha. Especially because she gets so tired nowadays from work.

Yeah, loser haha. I’m glad I’ve moved on; he wasn’t worth it. |:

  35. Ivy / Feb 16 2010

Cute decorations and stuff. :) I really like the Pooh red envelope! Not really in the Chinese New Years mood, but nevertheless, I am still getting red envelopes from people. There are many people I haven’t seen yet, so when I see them…I’ll be sure to get some more. :)

Have a great Chinese New Years!

  36. Blizzy / Feb 16 2010

    wow chica busy busy busy!!
    I know nothing about the chinese new year or it’s celebrations…. but Happy New Year? and HAVE A BLAST ^_^;;;

  37. Jenny / Feb 16 2010

Haahaa I can see why the more “modern” envelopes are so sought after! They’re cute!!

  38. Tiff / Feb 16 2010

You know, if your beauty marks continue to come back, it might have something to do with your skin. You might want to get it checked out by your dermatologist to make sure it’s not skin cancer. Highly doubt it is though but you can never be too sure! These days, the sun’s rays are a lot stronger than they were 20 years ago so it’s a lot easier for people to get skin cancer.

But I’m not trying to tell you that, “LOLOLYOUCOULDHAVESKINCANCER” or anything, but you should get it checked out just in case. If anything, it wouldn’t be too serious! Your dermatologist will probably just give you something a little stronger than what you have to remove them. Moles are kind of just a bunch of dead cells… I think. But if you rub them a lot, they kind of enlarge & protrude & that’s when you gotta get them removed!

I HOPE I DIDN’T FREAK YOU OUTTT!! I have a bunch of beauty marks too & I gotta get them examined to make sure I don’t have anything. My mom has skin cancer so I gotta make sure I’m healthy. Oh, my mom had a mole removed that was cancerous but she’s fine. :)

Better to be concerned than to find out later, right?

  39. Tiff / Feb 16 2010

Oh yeah, to answer your question:

No, 6 classes is not more than a normal college. At my college, you are limited to taking 19 units. Each class has a certain amount of units.

So you could take 19 classes if you wanted only if the classes you are taking are all 1 unit. 1 unit classes are normally dance/ballet/swimming/etc classes. Serious classes like Calculus or Biology are often 4 or 5 units. I’m taking 18 units! So I’m almost maxed out. :|

Normally labs aren’t separate units but my anthro lab is. My bio lab isn’t though. I don’t get a grade in my bio lab, but if I don’t show up, it’ll hurt my grade for my biology class.

  40. Tiffany / Feb 17 2010

Happy Chinese New Year to you too!! D: Hello Kitty! Our spinny thingy is red with little fat babies on them o.O LOL.

Aww, try not to feel pressured to do something you don’t want you. It’ your choice!

Sorry, I’m going to have to say GO AUSTRALIA because ya’know, I have to support my country. xD

  41. Amy / Feb 17 2010

Hey, I was wondering if you’d like to link exchange?

    :)

  42. Helena / Feb 17 2010

Omg I was typing a whole comment and my stupid computer deleted everything!!
Okay, I was writing something like this:

BONNIE! Bonnie Bonnie Bonnie! I am sorry for not being in touch with you but I haven’t been in touch with all my affilates because of school. School’s a bitch :(
Happy Chinese New Year to you too! I’m Chinese too so I got a lot of emails lol. I didn’t even know it was Chinese new year till my dad told me :’)
You got a lot of cool stuff! I really like the Hello Kitty candy thing? Haha.

  43. Junri / Feb 17 2010

    Happy New Years^^

  44. Arielle / Feb 19 2010

    Hahaha. Sounds like a hectic Chinese New Year! I ended up going to Chinatown in LA that day; it was quite crowded hahaa. Interestingly enough, the place I ate at wasn’t… but then again it was early o.o;;

I have a fatal attraction to HK red envelopes too – every time I see one I spazz; so now my family especially finds HK ones for me. Like I’m super jealous that in Taiwan, all the banks give you red envelopes for free- and they’re HK, or something super super cute.

    Anyways.
    Happy Chinese New Years.
Hopefully you had a good one ^^
